What is stored (on your device only)

Your reading settings (scroll or paged) and the last reading position per book are saved with the browser’s local storage (chrome.storage.local). Your books and this data never leave your device and are not synced to any server or across devices.

What is sent (anonymous diagnostics and usage counts only)

When an error occurs, the extension may send a small anonymous report containing:

• an error code (for example RENDER_FAILED);
• the extension version and the major browser version;
• a coarse platform tag (mac, win, or linux);
• a short, non-identifying technical detail.

To count installs and usage in aggregate, the extension also sends small anonymous events — installed, first book opened, a once-a-day ping while you keep reading, and uninstalled — tagged with a random per-install identifier generated on your device. It is not derived from you, your account, or your hardware, is never linked to your identity, and on our server is stored only as a salted hash.

Nothing sent ever includes your books, their contents, file names, book URLs, your reading position, your name, email, or any other personal data. Raw IP addresses are not stored on our server.

What we do not do

• No selling or transferring of user data to third parties.
• No advertising or ad tracking.
• No analytics profiles and no cross-site tracking. The per-install identifier counts unique installs in aggregate only.
• No account or sign-up required.

Permissions

• storage — to remember your reading settings and last position (stored locally on your device).
• declarativeNetRequest — a single rule that opens .epub links in the reader instead of downloading them; it does not read or modify page content.
• Optional access to https sites — requested only when you click “Enable one-click opening”. It lets the reader redirect .epub links and fetch the book file you chose to open. It is not requested at install; the reader also works via drag-and-drop or the file picker without it. The extension does not read or change the content of the sites you visit.
