What is stored (on your device only)

Your selected logo — an image you upload or a built-in preset — and related settings are saved with the browser’s local storage API (chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device and is not synced to any server or across devices.

What is sent (anonymous diagnostics and usage counts only)

When an error occurs, the extension may send a small anonymous report containing:

• an error code (for example LOGO_NOT_FOUND) and the technical error text and stack trace;
• the extension version, the browser and its major version, the operating system, the interface language, and a rounded screen width;
• the address of the Google page the error happened on — the domain and the path only, for example google.co.uk/search. The query string is never sent, so your search terms are not included. The extension runs only on Google Search domains, so this address is always one of them;
• a short, non-identifying technical detail, such as how many attempts were made before the error.

To count installs and usage in aggregate, the extension also sends small anonymous events — installed, updated, a once-a-day ping while it stays installed, which of its controls you used (choosing a preset, uploading an image, resetting), and uninstalled, together with the reason you pick on the farewell page if you pick one. These are tagged with a random per-install identifier: a random value generated on your device. It is not derived from you, your account, your hardware or any other extension, it is never linked to your identity, and on our server it is stored only as a salted hash.

Our server also records the two-letter country your request came from, derived from the connection. Raw IP addresses are never stored.

Nothing sent ever includes your images, your search terms, the addresses of non-Google pages you visit, cookies, your name, email, or any other personal data.

What we do not do

• No selling or transferring of user data to third parties.
• No advertising or ad tracking.
• No analytics profiles and no cross-site tracking. The per-install identifier counts unique installs in aggregate only; it is never used to build a profile of you or to follow you between sites.
• No account or sign-up required.

Permissions

• storage — to remember your chosen logo and settings between sessions (stored locally on your device).
• alarms — to send the once-a-day ping that counts the extension as still installed. It carries no data beyond that fact.
• Access to Google Search domains — a content script runs on *://*.google.<tld>/* for the ~188 country domains Google Search runs on (google.com, google.co.uk, google.de and so on), so the extension can find the Google logo and replace it wherever you search from. Google products that have no search logo — Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar, Photos, Accounts and similar — are explicitly excluded, and the extension runs on no other website. It does not read or transmit the page’s content or your search terms — it only locates and swaps the logo element. The page address is sent only when an error occurs, and only as domain and path, as described above.
